Rabih Abou-Khalil je libanonski lutnjar, ki živi v Nemčiji. Vseskozi povezuje arabsko tradicionalno glasbo z jazzom in evropsko klasično glasbo. Zato k sodelovanju redno vabi ustvarjalce tovrstnih glasb, kot so recimo Kronos Quartet, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, Balanescu Quartet in drugi.

Tokrat bo predstavljal nov projekt, ki ga opisujejo kot rahločuten in izbran izlet v (novo) jazzovske vode. Projekt je oprt na ploščo Journey to the Centre of an Egg (Enja records). Potovanje v središče jajca torej, v katerem se je našel z eno ključnih osebnosti nemškega jazza, slovečim pianistom Joachimom Kühnom, ki v tem letu praznuje svoj 75. rojstni dan.

Na Festivalu Lent bo Rabiha Abou-Khalila in Joachima Kühna, ki bo igral tudi saksofone, spremljal bobnar Jarrod Cagwin, ki je že dolgoletni Abou-Khalilov sodelavec.

Rabih Abou-Khalil is going to present his latest project, “a sensitive and exquisite plunge into (new) jazz”, with pianist Joachim Kühn and percussionist Jarrod Cagwin.

Rabih Abou-Khalil is a Lebanese lute player living in Germany. He’s steadfast in linking traditional Arabic music with jazz and European classical music, and regularly collaborates with artists from these genres, such as Kronos Quartet, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, Balanescu Quartet and others.

This time, he’s going to present his latest project that many call a sensitive and exquisite plunge into (new) jazz. The project is based on the record Journey to the Centre of an Egg (Enja records). On his journey to the centre of an egg, he encountered one of the most important German jazz artists, the world-renowned piano player Joachim Kühn, who is about to turn 75 this year.

At Festival Lent, Rabih Abou-Khalil and Joachim Kühn, who will be playing the sax as well, will be accompanied by drummer Jarrod Cagwin, a long-standing colleague of Abou-Khalil’s.
